GRIF-FIN FORCE!
If you haven’t been following the Griffin Force ad series for the 2014 Kia Optima, what exactly have you been doing since October? Actually, don’t answer that. Let’s just talk about these silly ads and the not-at-all silly appeal of the Kia’s sultry midsize sedan.
High-Flying History
As an official sponsor of the NBA, it only makes sense that Kia would be able to enlist Blake Griffin, one of the most electrifying players on the court, as leader of the Griffin Force. You may remember that Griffin dunked over an Optima to win the 2011 All Star dunk contest. He and the car have a history. Any crime-fighting duo needs a goofy sidekick, and Jack McBrayer is all over that. Add in a wizened intern with a short cape and a few citizens unwittingly looking at Lame Vehicles, and you’ve got an amusing ad campaign.
Slam Dunk
So far, the Griffin Force has taken to the streets to champion the Optima’s striking exterior and its panoramic sunroof. While at their base of operations, the duo marvels at the car’s cooling glovebox and Napa leather upholstery. Don’t forget that the Optima also has a 274 horsepower 2.4L engine that’s rated for 23 city/34 highway miles per gallon. It’s also equipped with available UVO eServices infotainment system, which allows for smartphone syncing, audio streaming, and hands free phone calling.
